I'm working on my edits for Sounds To Die By, and I need some help. It's going to have to be fast help (like today kind of fast). Here's what I'm thinking, if you can toss out some ideas on something bad that can happen to a woman in her college years, I'm not looking for horribly tragic or a mild bad breakup, it would be great. This would need to be something that she can get through with the help of an awesome friend who's there to pick her up and help her along. Something that would forge a really strong bond between two women.

If I use your idea in the story I will mention you in the dedication and you'll get an ARC of the book when it's ready. What do you say? Can you help me?

Post as many ideas as you can come up with by the end of the day and we'll go from there. Thank you in advance for helping me in my time of editing need. :)

Ideas I'm coming up with are tutoring the star football jock and getting a crush on him, but him thinking you're only a friend.

Working on a project with another student and having them take all the credit.

Having a teacher publish your masterful thesis as their own.

Falling for a teacher and having it end disasterously.

Gaining the freshman-15 and not being able to lose it.

what about a new acquaintance saving a her from date rape. or being drugged at a bar. What about telling the sorority to cut the crap with the hazing.

Discovering that she hates the major she invested so much time and energy in? (Like studying teaching then finding out she doesn't like kids, or doing theater just to discover she has crippling stage fright.)

Or getting into a huge fight with her roommate/apartment mate and suddenly finding herself homeless?

Getting really sick at the end of the semester with mono and pneumonia and having to take her finals with a temp of 104? (Oh, wait--that was me.)

Flunking out of a really important class for a reason not her fault?

Good luck!

Wow. This is fun!!!

1.Being accused of cheating on a test or plagiarism on a paper (when she really didn’t and ha no way of proving her innocence) and is either threatened with or had been expelled from that college for it.

2.Having a fellow student (who is jealous of her boyfriend/grades/life/fill in blank) video tape her in the locker room and posted it on YouTube.

3.Having an ex-boyfriend (or his new girlfriend) forward naked pictures he took of her to everyone.

Best of luck with this! I hope you get some really good ideas.

Tami

Hmm, you guys are giving me good stuff to think about.

So, Deborah you learned early on that you had serious determination to succeed. Did you ace those tests?
